MARK AYLING BIOGRAPHY
A lifelong drummer, Aberdeenshire based Mark Ayling
has now branched out into the world of acoustic music.
With lyrics that are mainly personal, sometimes angry
occasionally political, and always honest, he creates a
sound that has the energy of punk whilst retaining the
melodic elements of the acoustic guitar.
Discarding the usual Folk/Acoustic influences such as
Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie, Mark finds his inspiration from bands
as diverse as The Jam, Motorhead, New Model Army,
The Clash, Killing Joke and Joy Division.
2012 ended on a busy note with a tour of Germany, Belgium and Holland as
well as playing at the Perthshire Amber Acoustic Festival in Dunkeld.
2013 looks to be just as busy with gigs in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and
Banff already booked and a short UK tour planned for March.
Mark has had the pleasure of playing alongside Justin Sullivan (New Model Army),
Robb Johnson and Tracey Curtis at the 2011 Raise Your Banners Festival, and Billy Liar,
Iain MacDonald, 999, Proud City Fathers, Joe Solo and Paul Carter and many other fine musicians at various gigs throughout the year.www.facebook.com/markaylingacoustic

Acoustic punk from Glasgow influenced by Crass, AC/DC, Bob Mould, Discharge, Quarantine, Chuck Ragan. I’ve been playing since I can remember in various bands (Quarantine, Disaffect, Ruin, Debris, Scatha to name but a few). So you could say I’ve been going since around 1984. I thought, why not have a go at doing this Acoustic thing. Well, I know its not exactly D-Beat to the Max, but it is in my brain and my attitudes have not changed even though the music has toned down a bit.
