Free West African dance class
You enjoy african rhythm and would like to keep fit ? From 26 November, let’s have fun and feel the beat, every Tuesday at 6pm (drop-in sessions), at Forest Centre plus.
West African dance is an amazing form of dance. African music and dance bring huge energy which can improve physical and mental health. Dancing can improve a sense of body image and increase fitness and flexibility.
The class :
- is for beginners, open to all adults, and no prior dance experience required.
- is free, but an unspecified donation is requested
- will be accompanied by live drums ; the drummers that will accompany the class are all experienced in djembe and dunduns.

Jo, the teacher, has been teaching African dance since February 2013, and dancing for several years.
She regularly attends other classes to work on her technique, learn new material, and observe teaching methods. She organises a group called Anansi which performs African dance and drumming.
